Aficionados of gardens and art attended the 15th annual Loveland Garden Tour & Art Show, on Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. This year’s event featured a unique array of elegant, functional garden spaces in the Springs at Mariana in SW Loveland.
On this easily walkable tour, which is settled adjacent to Open Space land, you will find gardens that demonstrate sustainable gardening techniques, including low-water landscapes, combinations of organic vegetable and flower beds and wildlife habitats. These gardens also include examples of container gardening, water features and inviting outdoor living spaces. In addition, the tour features the sale of “Art for the Garden” by local artists whose work complements the various landscapes, with a number of the artists incorporating reused or salvaged materials into their pieces. The tour also includes a Silent Auction, with a unique theme each year, created and/or decorated by local artists. This year’s theme is “Artist’s Choice” featuring an eclectic array of household/garden items which will be re-purposed, up-cycled, designed and decorated in unique and surprising ways according to each individual artist’s interpretation. Each piece will be a welcome accent to any outdoor space.
While the Loveland Garden Tour & Art Show is a wonderful educational and fun community event, it is the primary fundraiser for Loveland Youth Gardeners. Loveland Youth Gardeners is a local 501(c) 3 non-profit organization whose mission is to cultivate job & life skills, environmental stewardship and service in youth, facing barriers to success, through the development of healthy relationships with people, agriculture, and community. Loveland Youth Gardeners also participates in providing fresh produce for low-income residents in our community through the “Plant a Row for the Hungry” program.
